Moments Photography is looking for this year’s juniors to apply for the Class of 2013 Senior Ambassador Program! High school juniors located in Southeastern Michigan and graduating in the Class of 2013 are eligible for this fantastic offer.

Limited Space

If you are an energetic and outgoing High School Junior with a positive attitude, Moments Photography by Carrie has a limited number of Ambassador Spots available, as we are only using 2 students per school. You can save money on your senior portraits and earn a little extra cash for yourself while energetically promoting Moments Photography.

What you are required to do?

Talk it up….. plain and simple. Show off your portraits as soon as you get them, especially before school ends. During the last months of the school year and over the summer pass out your referral cards. Get your parents involved as well. With parental permission you will be featured on Moments Photography by Carrie’s website, social networking sites, and promotional materials.

Benefits:

As an Ambassador you will receive up to two free photo sessions. The first session will need to take place between March 1st, 2012 and April 15, 2012. This session is to establish your photos for your promotional material.
You will then receive Ambassador Referral cards with your photos on them to pass out to all your friends, and receive low-resolution watermarked files to use for your phone, Facebook, or any other social networking sites

to help promote Moments Photography.

If we receive at least 2 paid referrals from you, you will receive a second FREE photo session; this session can be booked anytime before November 1, 2012. If we do not receive a minimum of 2 paid referrals, you will receive 50% off a Studio Plus senior session.

To keep you up-to-date with Moments Photography, I wanted to reach out to all of you and let you know that the studio will be closed for photo sessions only, January 5, 2012 – February 7, 2012. Why Does Custom Photography Cost More?

The digital revolution has brought amazing flexibility and ability to control various factors during the image taking and making process. Photographers, the hobbyist, the professional, the amateur all benefit from this ability to manipulate pixels. However, with flexibility comes a price. Digital camera equipment is still considerably more expensive when you factor in its' lifespan, the need for additional resources for processing those images, the time it takes to get a usable image and the effort that goes into creating a work of photographic art. We all know that you can go to the local Walgreen's and pay a $1.99 for a print – as a client you may wonder why you may pay upwards of $50, $70, $90 for a custom photography print. Photographers hear this statement every once in awhile:

"How in the world can you charge $60 for an 8×10 if it costs me less than $2 to print at x store?"

The truth of the matter is the answer to this question is multifaceted. Much of the cost of a photographic print produced by a professional photographer has a lot to do with the time, equipment costs, artistic vision and reputation of the photographer not to mention expertise and the usual costs of running a legitimate business. The cost of TIME Approaching it from a time standpoint, let's imagine that you have hired a photographer who has work that you love. This photographer is traveling an hour to your destination to photograph your session. Here is an example of a time break down:

booking time: 30 minutes to one hour (client contact time + paperwork)
pre-session prep time (30 mins – 1 hour, includes equipment and back up equipment checks + vehicle checks)
one hour travel time TO session
15-30 minutes prep time at client's home
90 minutes-2 hours with client photographing subject
one hour travel time FROM session
30-45 minutes uploading time from digital cards from camera to computer
30-45 minutes time spent backing up the original images
2-5 hours editing time to present you with a diverse gallery of edited images
1 hour prep time getting ready for ordering
1-2 hours time with client for ordering images
1 hour sorting through and checking order
30 minutes-1 hour prep time for delivery
30 minutes-1 hour getting order shipped
any additional phone time or time needed for add on ordering, shipment issues, quality issues

In this example, the time spent per client can range from just under 13 hours to 19 hours – dependent on the photographer's level of service. This is time dedicated only to ONE session. When the photographer charges $150-$300 for the photo shoot (aka SESSION FEE) you are not just paying for the two hours of session time, you are paying the photographer for 12-19 hours complete time for your session.

The photographs that are produced as a result of the professionalism and dedication that your photographer has will be cherished for a lifetime (or more) and great thought and consideration should be placed into hiring who is right for your family's most precious investment.

This family session was originally planned to be
photographed in a field that had beautiful rolling hills, the forecast was 100%
rain. We canceled the field idea that morning and decided to do the
session indoors at their home. Just before I arrived the rain stopped and
we were able to do pictures outdoors outside their ...home. It was a fast
session as we knew the rain was eventually going to start back up....and it was
a sauna outside. All in all everything worked out and here are a few
pictures from their session. Happy 25 years Jeff and Mary!

Here's a sneak peak into a recent Senior Session with Gigi. Beautiful, fun and sweet!

My goal is to make every Senior Session memorable and I did just that when we shot this pose. This picture was taken beside the road in some overgrown grass; while photographing a golfer came over to ask if everything was okay...it was not until that moment when it hit me that Gigi looked like she could have been hit by a car the way we were looking down at her while taking her photos. We laughed so hard!

Crazy how fast a year flies by, I feel like I just took Sophia's newborn pictures a few months ago. Sophia’s session was split into two separate days…not in the plan but Sophia was teething in a major way….and was not in the mood for pictures on day 1. Alison brought a cake and balloons on the first scheduled session, we gave up on all the non cake pictures we had planned and went straight to the cake plan. Thankfully Sophia’s teeth pain disappeared when we put her in front of the cake. Sophia was so cute for her session/session’s……although she was a challenge….we got some keepers!

Here is an awesome family that I photographed during my hectic Holiday Season and did not have any time to share any of their and my FAVS from their maternity session. They purchased my Bellies and Babies Plan and came back with their newest addition. Baby Taylor had the most beautiful head of dark brown hair (just like big sisters), when I saw her I could not wait to start snapping away! I prefer to photograph newborns between birth and 2 weeks, they sleep more and allow you to mold them into those classic favorite poses. Baby Taylor was almost 2 weeks old for her newborn session.....she decided to stay awake for her whole session! We did everything we could to make her sleep but NO LUCK. Big sister AVA was part of the photo session plan too, but Ava wanted to do everything else but be a part of the session. I will be honest it was a challenge but all in all we were able to capture some beautiful images.

Oh how fast they grow!!

Here is another adorable baby girl. I am combining Merritt's newborn session photo's with her most recent 3 month session. It is amazing how fast they grow! When Merritt came for her 3 month session she was a little off......we got a few pictures then Merritt fell asleep! She took a short 10-15 minute cat nap, woke up and finished her session ...with a much more happier baby girl. I am sharing one picture that I could not resist posting...one of her pre-nap pictures....you will know which picture it is.

Here's an adorable 7 month old...... Kaydence was full of BIG smiles until I put the camera to my face. Once the camera was in sight the smiles disappeared and the unimpressed look came out....Kaydence stared me down with her georgeous blue eyes, but with lots of effort we were able to capture a few smiles and lots of precious candid images. I'd like to introduce Nathan Harris, he is a Fowlerville High School Class of 2010 Senior. Nathan wanted some pictures taken out on a gulf course, and hockey rink. We began with some gulf pictures, then went out to Lansing to do some photographs out on the rink. This was my first time taking any professional pictures at an ice rink, and I learned one thing real quick....bring a hoodie and flip flops are not the best thing to wear on ice! Besides being a little cold, everything worked out.

The month of June was the month for twins! I photographed these two adorable little guys when they were just newborns, and boy have they grown since then. They are ONE now and busy busy busy. This week has been a busy week for on location sessions, here is a sneak peak of a Senior Session that I did on the West side of the state on Lake Michigan. I am posting a few individual pictures, and the big bulk of my favorites will be in a video.

Nicole here is a sneak peak at the photos we did earlier today. I was going to wait to work on these Sunday, but when I uploaded them and saw them I could not wait! Miss Addison is sooo beautiful!!
Thank you so much for allowing me to photograph Addison with my dress, and skirt that I had purchased for my studio. Addison is officially my little model! Her porcelain skin, blue eyes, and blond hair are irresistible!

I am calling this session Part A, because it was a race against mother nature this day. We new that rain was on the way, and cotton was flying everywhere! I had to edit out some cotton in the pictures that I selected to post. Katie is scheduled to come back another day to finish her outdoor session, the rain eventually came and put a damper on our plans.

I went on a shopping spree, and purchased everything from tutu's, pettiskirts, head bands with interchangeable flowers and bows, knit hats, and the list goes on.....

This is baby Sophia's 3 month session, and what a blast we had. Little Ms S was in a fantastic mood this particular day and was so much fun to photograph. Okay I am a bit behind posting recent photo sessions! I've been so busy working on my 2010 Senior marketing campaign I fell behind posting pictures from recent sessions.
I am going to start with a few pictures from my niece's photo session. I borrowed her for some portfolio work, to show off some of my new tutu's, backgrounds, and props. I had a huge list of ideas that I wanted to do with her, but Delilah had other plans. She was not in the greatest mood and hated my tutu's! But anyways I got a few good pictures. ...the bandwagon that is. I am finally entering the world of blogging! This is something the I've wanted to do for some time now, and here I am making my first blog entry! Moments Photography has a lot going on, and this blog is a perfect way to keep you updated to all new happenings. My studio has been completely remodeled, brand new website, new props, and products. I am currently in the process of building new scenes (fairy themes, antique themes, lots of High School Senior sets). There will be pictures of the scenes posted once they are finished.

I am in the process of brainstorming ideas for upcoming promotions, so please be sure to check back for upcoming events.

In the meantime I will leave you with a picture of my children and I (a family portrait is planned for this summer!) and some images from a calendar that I made for my parents for Christmas.
